New Delhi: Delhi Police 's Crime Branch on Saturday busted a cricket betting racket in Karol Bagh , leading to the arrest of ten individuals who were placing bets on the ongoing Big Bash League T20 matches in Australia. Police said that the gang was operating from a three-bedroom flat occupied by 10 people in the Karol Bagh area. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a flat on Joshi Road, Karol Bagh, on Saturday around 11.30 am. "The raid uncovered that 10 people, including the main suspect Raju Vaishnav, were placing bets using laptops and mobile phones during a live cricket match," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sanjay Kumar Sain. The group was found to be betting on the 7th T20 match of the Big Bash League 2024-2025 between the Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers. The suspects were identified as Raju Vaishnav, Jagrat Saihni, and Parves Kumar from Delhi; Yogesh Taneja, Tarun Khanna, and Harvinder Deol from Agra, Uttar Pradesh; and Manish Jain, Kushal, and Gautam Das from Rajasthan. During questioning, police found that the syndicate operated in two ways. Jagrat purchased a master ID from the betting website for online betting. Raju allegedly managed a network across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, handling daily transactions worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Additionally, the group accepted offline bets, which were recorded in notebooks. Raju was found to have rented the flat in his name for Rs 45,000 a month. Police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about the syndicate's operations.
