Vendor hit by vehicle, succumbs to injuries in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A 32-year-old vegetable vendor succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital after he was hit by a vehicle on Saturday. Iswari (32) of Uttar Pradesh was crossing the road at Gate Number 1 of Tau Devi Lal Stadium on Sohna Road when he was hit by a moving vehicle, police said. Police were alerted around 1 pm on Friday by the civil hospital about the accident. By the time the police team reached there, the patient was referred to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment, they said. Iswari's friend Rajiv Kumar Sah, a vegetable vendor from Tikri, told police that the former suffered multiple injuries due to the accident. "While Iswari was crossing the road at Gate Number 1 of Tau Devi Lal Stadium on Sohna Road, he was hit by an unknown vehicle going from Gurgaon to Sohna," Rajiv alleged. Based on Sah's complaint, police registered a case under sections 106 (causing death due to negligence) and 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the BNS on Saturday. "We are verifying the CCTV footage near the crime scene," police said.
