New Delhi: AAP on Saturday contested reports that prosecution sanction had been granted by the lieutenant governor to Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the party's national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal , in the excise policy case . Calling the news reports "baseless and politically motivated", AAP functionaries alleged that false claims were being spread to divert the attention of people from pressing issues. Taking to social media platform X, senior AAP functionary Manish Sisodia asked why ED was not showing a copy of the sanction. "It's clear that this news is false and misleading. Stop using rhetoric to divert attention from the issue of disrespecting Babasaheb and show where the sanction to prosecute was given to ED," Sisodia said on X. Speaking to reporters, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also asked for the document showing approval for prosecution granted by LG. "Any such letter, if it exists, must be made public," Singh said. In a post on X, CM Atishi said BJP should stop such conspiracies. Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj asserted that prosecution sanction was required to initiate a case against a minister or a chief minister. "If there was no approval to prosecute, what was all this drama about?" he questioned. He claimed that no prosecution sanction had been granted till now. "This entire episode is nothing but a series of lies and conspiracies driven purely by political motives," he alleged. Jasmine Shah, another senior AAP functionary, also posted on X that LG had not given any prosecution sanction to ED against Kejriwal. "If someone insists otherwise, please demand a copy of the sanction," he said. Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India .
