New Delhi: BJP MLA Vijender Gupta on Thursday urged lieutenant governor V K Saxena to implement the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) and the Health Information Management System (HIMS) in Delhi. In a letter to Saxena, Gupta said implementing the schemes would revive the city's struggling public healthcare system and enhance services. Gupta highlighted that PM-ABHIM, launched by PM Modi in 2021, was successfully implemented across the country. Under the scheme, Centre allocated Rs 2,406 crore to Delhi for the establishment of 1,139 urban health and wellness centres, 11 district-integrated public health laboratories and nine critical care blocks, he said. "However, due to the Kejriwal govt's political obstinacy and corruption, it was not introduced in Delhi," he alleged. Calling for the implementation of HIMS, Gupta said, "Central govt has already successfully introduced HIMS in major facilities, including RML Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital and 738 other centres." HIMS is free of cost and helps curb corruption, Gupta said, stressing the need to "move beyond political differences" and prioritise the best possible healthcare services for Delhi's residents. "Once BJP govt takes charge, these schemes will be implemented with full force, making Delhi a leading city in the healthcare sector," Gupta said. Gupta slammed the AAP-led govt, alleging Delhi's healthcare system collapsed due to its "misgovernance". He accused Kejriwal of deliberately blocking central healthcare schemes . "Instead of improving hospitals, it focused solely on misleading publicity," he alleged, adding, "When central govt was offering thousands of crores for Delhi's healthcare, why was it not accepted? AAP govt must answer to the people of Delhi." There was no immediate response from AAP. He urged LG to direct the concerned departments to enforce the schemes without further delay. Their execution, he stressed, would bring a "revolutionary transformation" in Delhi's healthcare system.
