19 achievers honoured with national, state awards

1 2 3 Bengaluru: The govt Thursday announced the names of 19 achievers from arts, music and cultural fields for state and national awards 2024-25 . Kannada and culture minister Shivaraj Tangadagi said the national award of Ganayogi Pandit Panchakshari Gavayi, carrying a citation and cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, will be presented to Parween Sultana, noted Hindustani singer of Patiala gharana. The national award of Basava Rashtriya Puraskar, with citation and Rs 10-lakh cash prize, will be given to researcher and litterateur SR Gunjal. Chowdiah National Award will be presented to Hindustani clarinet player Basappa H Bhajantri. In literature category, Kannada folklore scholar and critic BA Vivek Rai has been chosen for Pampa Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh. Gamaka and Kaavyavachana artist AV Prasanna will be conferred with Kumaravyasa State Award. A Shantiraj Shastri Trust will be feted with Bhagwan Mahaveer National Peace award with Rs 10-lakh cash prize. Among women achievers, Bengaluru-based Bharatanatyam artiste Padmini Ravi has been chosen for Shanta Natya Prashasti. Theatre artist K Nagarathnamma will receive Dr Gubbi Veeranna award, researcher and scholar YC Bhanumathi, Danachintamani Attimabbe award, writer and social activist Hema Pattanashetti, Akkamahadevi award.
