Bengaluru: A trial court has sentenced two west Bengaluru men to seven years of imprisonment in the sensational Chandru killing case which had taken a communal turn, prompting a CID probe into the road rage incident . Carpenter Shahid Pasha alias Nyaro, 32 and mutton shop employee Shahid Pasha alias Gena, 22, both residents of Old Guddadahalli, Mysuru Road, were convicted of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which took place at JJ Nagar in April 2022. Jai Bheema Nagar resident Chandru, 22, and his friend Simon Raj had gone in search of a chicken roll at night following the celebration of the latter's birthday. When they reached 9th Cross Old Guddadahalli, Nyaro's bike brushed Raj's scooter, leading to a heated argument which escalated. Nyaro, along with his associates, attacked Chandru and Raj with lethal weapons. Chandru succumbed to his injuries, while Raj narrowly escaped. Rumours of the "murder" over a "language dispute" prompted CID to take over the investigation. Its deputy superintendent of police Nanda Kumar filed a chargesheet against Nyaro, Gena, and another suspect, Mohammad Nabeel for "murder" and "criminal conspiracy". Arms Act were also invoked against them. The court found Nyaro and Gena guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder while Nabeel, was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
