Gurgaon: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather forecast for south Haryana, including Gurgaon, predicting a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain or thunderstorms on Dec 27 and 28. This comes as the city is expected to experience dense fog between Dec 22 and 25. According to IMD, the dense fog is likely to reduce visibility significantly, potentially causing disruptions in daily activities and transportation. Residents are advised to exercise caution while commuting during this period. "Dense fog is likely to be present in isolated areas of south Haryana due to a high ratio of moisture and the inability of low-speed winds to blow it away. Dense fog will be mainly present in the late-night and early-morning hours of the day," read an IMD advisory. On Sunday, the city's minimum temperature was 7.7 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than Friday's 8.8 degrees, and 0.7 degrees below normal. "Under the influence of a western disturbance, light isolated snowfall occurred over the western Himalayan region in the past three days. Haryana will see a gradual fall of 1-2 degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature after the next few days," said an IMD official. "Severe winter is likely to start setting in Dec 26 onwards, as northwesterly winds are likely to bring cold air from the Himalayan region," the official added.
