Davos: Uttar Pradesh is looking to woo investors at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The delegation led by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh engaged with prominent data giants and invited them to explore opportunities for establishing data centres in the state. In an exclusive interview with Times Now's Mihir Bhatt Singh, Singh highlighted the areas where the UP government is looking to boost development by engaging with foreign players. The Davos Summit provides a stage where states can engage with industry leaders to boost infrastructure and bring foreign direct investments (FDIs). When the UP Chief Secretary was asked how he was looking to gain from the mega summit he said, "UP has made an exclusive policy for Fortune 500 companies to facilitate FDI. We have decided that we will provide the land at a subsidy of 75% to these companies." Also Read: Uttar Pradesh Eyes WEF Push For Its $1 Trillion Economy Dream "The first company to come to UP is Fuji Silvertech and Ashok Leyland also shifted for the first time from South to North for manufacturing electric busses," he added. The UP government is also planning to set up an artificial intelligence Centre of excellence in the state to extract the benefits of new-age technologies, he said. This new data centre will be built at Gautam Buddha University in Noida. The state government has already sanctioned a budget of Rs 50 crore for the project to start operations. Many big players like Microsoft, Google and Samsung have signed MOUs for the same, he elaborated. "We are going to partner with these big companies who will also be making huge investments in the Noida-Greater Noida area," Singh added. The Uttar Pradesh government has dispatched a 12-member delegation to the World Economic Forum, led by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. Key officials in the delegation include Amit Singh (Secretary to the Chief Minister), Prathmesh Kumar (Additional CEO, INVEST UP), and Anupam Shukla (Director, Energy Resource Department). Delegations from other states, such as Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, are also participating in the forum. This marks the second appearance of the Uttar Pradesh Pavilion at the forum, showcasing the state's development initiatives and investor-friendly policies. The pavilion provides a platform for direct engagement with officials to explore investment opportunities across key sectors. During the event, the UP delegation will meet top industry leaders, including CEOs and senior executives from global corporations such as Nestlé, Heineken, Budweiser, UPL, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and Dassault, aiming to attract significant foreign investments. The delegation is focused on positioning Uttar Pradesh as a USD 1 trillion economy within the next five years. Their strategy includes promoting tourism, enhancing infrastructure, developing airports and expressways, and implementing sector-specific policies to drive investment growth.
